Detailed Site Assessment
Marquis Alliance conducts Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs) as the final step in determining an abandoned site’s readiness for reclamation certification. Based on the outcome of these assessments, Marquis Alliance will recommend further reclamation in order to meet the requirements of the applicable reclamation criteria, or proceed with a Reclamation Certificate Application in order to obtain closure on the site.
Conducting a DSA involves office coordination prior to fieldwork, a field assessment of landscape, soil and vegetation parameters, as well as a compilation of a DSA report based on the field data obtained. Prior to field assessment, Marquis Alliance takes several steps to ensure smooth operation and cost effectiveness for the client:
- Landowners are contacted as a courtesy to inform them of the intention to access their land
- Vegetation information is obtained so that the assessment is conducted during the optimal time frame
- We ensure that all operator specific safety requirements are met and arranged for permitting where required
During the field assessment, our scientists utilize their expertise and professional judgment to obtain information required to determine reclamation readiness. Qualitative and quantitative landscape, soils and vegetation parameters are assessed to determine conformity with the surrounding area.
Once the information is collected, a Detailed Site Assessment report is compiled. Our scientists are well versed in the reclamation criteria, they use this knowledge to analyze the data and ascertain the site’s readiness for reclamation certification.
