Wellbore strengthening is a specific treatment that Marquis Alliance can blend into the MA OBM system. It can be formulated from the invert plant or blended on site as the need arises. MA has a large assortment of options when putting together these systems and prewell planning is one of best ways to apply this type of technology successfully. Wellbore strengthening is used when downhole losses and difficult wellbore conditions combine to make drilling with OBM very costly. Downhole losses, weighted systems, troublesome coals and highly fractured formations are good applications for this treatment.
The MA All Oil system contains, by definition, only small amounts of water < 5% in the non-continuous phase. Often these systems are applied to reduce costs and allow for the recycling of fluid on project work. All oil systems generally have lower daily additions due to the inherent properties of Electrical Stability, HTHP control and lack of a non-continuous phase. Marquis Alliance has worked with a variety of base oils and has field proven viscosifying techniques to improve the rheology of these systems and increase carrying capacity when needed. The system is also well suited for coring and production zone applications.
